Items needed:
1. Live Feed Camera(s)
2. Holographic projector(s)
3. Speaker(s) or PA System(s)
4. A method of world wide connection for broadcasting (Internet for example)
(others)5. Green screen (depending on the method of protesting)
Purpose
To reduce the barrier that protesters are around the world, as they can be united anywhere with technology, in a large group at any space, to protest at the same time. Also, to use the advantages of the technology to strategize protesting and communication methods. Supporters also have access to view the rally live via an online channel.
Side A: Rally in
Side B: Rally in
2. Holographic projectors placed at spaces that are sufficient in area to project the rally members from the opposite side.
3. Control stations are booths where an operator will be controlling the cameras/projectors and feeding the live video to the opposite side and at the same time broadcasting it on a channel online.
The result is that the image of side A would be project on side B’s location and vise versa. Therefore,
If there are more than two sides that take place in the virtual protest, then simply add additional cameras and projectors and project their images in appropriate places.
Full Virtual Rally Set up:
1. With the use of the large green screen in a secure place, aim the camera at the rally members
2. Place projectors at multiple chosen locations
3.Set up control and broadcasting stations for live feed, then project the images to appropriate areas.
Advantages of Virtual Protest:
Unites protestors anywhere anytime globally
- Protectors are able to communicate and see each other first hand around the world to support each other, an instant feedback
- As everyone are seeing it live, reduces the chances that the information on current situations will be manipulated by certain others.
Ensures Safety
- Can reduces brutality between protectors, opposing side and/or authorities
- Children/Seniors can also take part without getting harmed
- Immune to climate changes, even if the weather is several, the people are not affected
Flexibility
- Easy to avoid authorities, if the protest is not welcomed at the location, the protest can still be enforced if necessary
- If any chances, it is easier to disband to avoid arrest
- With the use of projectors, it does not limit to flat ground
- Video of the live rally can be projected on giant walls or sky etc.
Fewer public disturbances
- Less disruption on busy social space
- At the same time able to increase the geographic are of protest, as the technology enables the rally to be projected to multiple different areas at the same time
This is an interesting idea. However I thought the power of protest comes from physical disruption. If no physical distruption, how different would the people in power hand the situation? Would the issue that the protestors raise tends to be ignored? Also .. if the projector is broken or the power is cut off .. the protest will disapper easily. Is there anyway to prevent that?
